NEW BEGINNINGS
January is a good month to think
about new beginnings. With the dawn of a brand-new year come new opportunities
and exciting anticipation of new ventures and new challenges. New phases of our
lives don’t always wait until January to begin.
On Christmas day 2022, Allysen and Thabian
Carpenter blessed us with our 1st great-granddaughter, Valentine! At
that moment we became new great-grandparents and Blake and Michelle became
grandparents! (Yes, we now have a grandpa for a son!) This December 21st
we greeted Valentine’s baby sister, Zelda!
This New Year,on January 2nd, Janelle and Zack blessed our
family with another great-granddaughter, Rowen!
As we are just getting a good start at
being great-grandparents, Blake and Michelle are experiencing the new beginning
of being grandparents and the Carpenters and Wademans are starting a new fun
beginning called parenting!
With new beginnings come new
responsibilities. What does society expect of new great-grandparents, grandparents,
and parents? What does God expect? How can we all be a blessing in the lives of
these sweet little ones who themselves have recently experienced a new
beginning called life? A few obvious answers
might include:
1- 1) Love
them! This sounds obvious but if we love them unconditionally, we will provide
for them, protect them and guide them toward happy living.
2- 2) Keep them close to family! They will need their great grandparents, grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles and cousins to love, guide and be their fan club, cheering and encouraging them along their path of life.
e 3) Keep them close to God! We must remember that He is their Heavenly Father, they are on loan to us from Him. As we teach them to pray and connect with him, he will be able to help them in ways we can’t, during times when they will need heavenly help.
As we welcome these new little ones as
they face their new beginnings, let us all humbly approach our new beginning
roles and ponder and pray for wisdom and help to make a positive difference in
their precious lives!
We feel confident that the Carpenters
and the Wademans will be amazing parents! (They already are!) We’ve seen Blake and Michelle succeed in their
new role as grandparents (they’ve already got the smooch and kiss them part
down!) We think we’ll do well with the great grandparent spoiling role. (Grandma
is already getting the powdered sugar ready!)
May heaven help us all with our new
beginnings!
Much love- The Grandparent Chronicles
