100th
edition - THE GRANDPARENT CHRONICLES
When The
Grandparent Chronicles began 8 years ago, we had no idea that there would ever
be a 100th edition! Like any project or a good book, it has a
beginning and eventually and end. The 100th edition is probably a
good place to end.
Our purpose
was stated in the very 1st edition, March 2018.
“Our goal is
to help each of you live happy lives! Our hope is to send you stories,
thoughts, histories and insights which we hope you will read, discuss and ponder
as a family and individually, that you will find positive application for you
as you navigate your own journey through life.”
We would
encourage our posterity to go back to the beginning and re-read each
Grandparent Chronicle. Each issue was prayerfully considered and we believe spiritually
prompted. They were written for you and your benefit. It has been said that if
you want to talk to God, pray. If you want God to talk to you, read His
scriptures. We believe that to be true, so if you have but little time to read,
read His scriptures 1st!
There is an
old Indian legend that a wise old chief once told his grandchild that, “there
are two wolfs that live within each of us. One wants us to do good, the other
to do evil. “Which one wins?” asks the grandchild. The wise old chief replies, the
one we choose to feed!” We hope you’ll reflect upon your life and ask which
wolf you are feeding.
Some of you
were not raised with much religion in your life. Some of you have walked away
from church and religion and we imagine, give very little thought to God or spiritual
things. You may have given very little effort to know God, but we promise that
He knows you! We testify that you lived with God our Heavenly Father before you
were born. He gifted all His children with an inborn knowledge of right and
wrong, the “Light of Christ” was given to you to help guide you. We encourage
you to take time to study, think, ponder and pray upon the important principles
of eternal significance and you can know for yourself what is true and of
eternal value.
(James 1:5 and
Moroni 10:4-6.)
The decisions
you make in this life will determine where and how you will live in the life to
come. Choose wisely.
Please dear
loved ones, don’t procrastinate your efforts to come to know God, to learn to
love Him and to keep His commandments. He is all loving and all knowing. He
knows how to help you if you seek Him.
Don’t be
afraid to admit when you are wrong. We all make mistakes, sometimes serious
ones, but repentance is a gift not a punishment. Alma reminds us that “this
life is the time to prepare to meet God.” (Alma 34:32) Jacob counsels us to “be
wise.” (Jacob 6:12)
Please be kind and forgiving of each other. Be slow to judge, let God do that. We want to be an eternal family, for that to happen, we need to learn to love and forgive each other here.
You all come
from a noble heritage. Please be careful to honor your family name by living
the very best you can. Become your very best self! Your ancestors are cheering for you. They have
“fought the good fight,” (2 Timothy 4:7) now it’s your turn.
Now dear loved
ones, if you remember nothing else, remember that you are loved! We pray for
you, we fast for you, we want to help you in any way you will let us because
you are important and precious to us! We encourage you to seek and to find
Jesus, He knows the way because He is the way, the way to lasting happiness and
peace.
You can do
this! We know you can!
Much Love-
The Grandparent Chronicles
The End.
(but maybe a
new beginning for you!)
